Consistency Is Key In Rosacea Care

A recent National Rosacea Society survey on regimen consistency found that most rosacea sufferers are good at maintaining a consistent skin care and treatment program. Among the 220 respondents, over 75% practiced gentle skin care in the morning or evening five or more days out of the last seven. Over 65% reported using their topical medications regularly as well. The percentage of respondents reporting consistent use of oral medications was split, with 60% taking their prescriptions one or fewer times in the past week and 40% taking it five or more times.

Survey respondents were less rigorous about using sun protection. Despite sun exposure being the leading trigger for flare-ups, only 45% reported using it five or more days per week, and 35% reported not using sunscreen at all.

When asked what was one thing they could do to help themselves be more consistent with their rosacea regimen, several patients commented that they wanted to stick with their current routine, with responses like, “I’ve learned to do it every day,” and “I am very consistent.” Those aiming to improve their consistency planned to do things like “watch my diet” and “wear a hat.”
