Over 16 million Americans and 415 million people worldwide have rosacea. For over 30 years, we have designated April as Rosacea Awareness Month to educate, raise awareness and reduce stigma about this chronic and complex skin condition. For Rosacea Awareness Month 2026, we are highlighting the wide range of management options now available, including both skin care and prescription therapies and procedures.
A growing range of oral and topical prescription therapies is now available to address each of these signs and symptoms, and research and clinical experience have found that medications used in combination may have a synergistic outcome that is more effective than use of a single therapy alone. Light-based therapies such as lasers and intense pulsed light may help relieve or eliminate persistent redness or telangiectasia, and skin care also plays a role through the use of gentle cleansers, moisturizers that help repair the skin barrier, and sunscreens that protect from solar radiation. How To Participate
Support Rosacea Research
Perhaps nowhere else in dermatology is so little known about a disorder that affects so many. Because the cause of rosacea is unknown and there is no cure, the National Rosacea Society's research grants program was established in 1999 to encourage and support research into the potential causes and other key aspects of this disorder that may lead to improvements in its treatment and potential prevention or cure.
