Rosacea on Television: The Effects on Work Life

Posted on: 01/02/2013

As part of the mission of the National Rosacea Society (NRS) to increase awareness, rosacea has been featured on television countless times over the years on local and national news programs as well as entertainment shows. We thought it would be fun and informative to share some of these historical video clips from our archives.

In April 2001, WTVT-TV's morning show, "Good Day Tampa Bay," reported on rosacea and how its effects can impact "not only your looks, but your livelihood." The segment references a 2000 NRS survey, in which those with severe symptoms said rosacea had substantially affected their professional interactions, and many had even canceled or postponed business meetings because of their appearance. Even those with moderate symptoms reported that it had affected their work lives.

In a more recent survey on the social impact of rosacea, 71 percent of respondents said the disorder's effects had inhibited their social lives.

Fortunately, in both surveys the majority of respondents said that their condition improved after seeking medical therapy.
